The International Solid Waste Association
ISWA’15
September 7-9, 2015, Antwerp, Belgium
General Information
Transfer stations and landfills are an essential component of an effective waste management system, and over the last decade these facilities have changed significantly in response to changes in policy, regulations, and community expectations. Transfer stations now have a primary role in sorting and recovering resources, as well as the efficient transfer of materials and waste to other facilities. Whilst landfills also commonly host a range of resource recovery activities, they also provide responsible disposal of residual waste.
The conference will be of particular interest to: industry managers; regulators; local government councillors and staff; state and federal government; consultants; service providers; planners; environment managers; academics and engineers. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from international and local experts, contribute to debate and discussion and network with their industry peers.

6th International Conference on Energy and Sustainability 2015
September 2-4, 2015, Medellin, Colombia
General Information
In many cases, the challenges lie as much in the conversion from renewable energies (wind, solar, etc) to useful forms (electricity, heat, fuel) at an acceptable cost (including damage to the environment), as in the integration of those resources into an existing infrastructure.
The conference will also discuss the energy use of industrial processes and focus in particular in the embedded energy of materials, including those used in the built environment. The diverse topics covered by the conference involve collaboration between different disciplines in order to arrive at optimum solutions, including materials, energy networks, new energy resources, storage solutions, waste to energy systems, smart grids and many others

the 14th International Congress on Combustion By-Products and Their Healty Effects
PIC 2015
June 14-17, 2015, Umea, Sweden
General Information
The local organizing committee cordially invites you to PIC2015 – the 14th International Congress on Combustion By-Products and Their Health Effects! This year the PIC congress is hosted in the beautiful city of Umeå, Sweden. The conference takes place between Sunday the 14th and Wednesday the 17th of June at the Scandic Plaza Hotel in the city center of Umeå.
The congress is held every two years with the goal to provide an international forum to discuss topics on the origins, fate, and health effects of combustion. Combustion is in this context defined in a wide sense, including all forms of thermal treatment of fuel materials and hazardous substances. This field has gained significant relevance due to the increasing need for mechanistic, diagnostic, and analytical answers to complex problems concerning air toxic exposure. The main theme of PIC 2015 is Origin, fate and health effects of combustion-related air pollutants in the coming era of bio-based energy sources.

General Information
The Waste-to-Energy (WtE) market has grown considerably since incineration first started in 1874. Large markets were established in Europe as well as parts of Asia. However, concerns over harmful by-products of the incineration process, both pollution and public health-related, led to widespread regulatory tightening of dioxin, particulate and refuse fuel emissions, forcing some plants out of business and increasing public opposition to some plant developments.
Despite this, there are renewed growth prospects for the WtE industry. Not only is the world population growing, it is also becoming increasingly urbanised. This leads to greater levels of waste being generated globally, in more concentrated levels and in closer proximity to large urban areas. These issues are focusing more attention on waste management frameworks, with increased interest in alternatives to landfill. As a result, municipalities worldwide are considering the functionality of WtE plants to help deal with mounting waste being generated.
